For the purists amongst you who like your Night-O championships even if you don't get ranking points for it then Saturday 25th Feb could be a busy day for you, according to BOF website:
British Night Championships
Sat 25th Feb 2012
Venue:Hamptworth
Nearest town:Salisbury
Club:SARUM
Association:SWOA
Level:Level A
GRAMP Scottish Night Championships
Sat 25th Feb 2012
Venue:environs
Nearest town:Banchory

Now how many hardcore Night-Oers will want to do both?

Re: British and Scottish Nights
Is this scheduling anything to do with the recent discovery that the speed of light is no longer a limit to how fast something can travel through space-time?
In effect we can complete the Scottish event and then travel back in time in order to compete in the British (I'll still get lost

Please note that this won't work with SI version 8 or 9 cards, as they now use electron neutrinos. Versions 5 and 6 use muon neutrinos so won't get confused by the time travel.

Re: British and Scottish Nights
Time travel isn't needed just the ability to travel 550 miles or so very quickly -Harrier should do it as long as you can get 1st & last starts and not waste too much time on the first run
Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

No Contest - it'll be Scolty or Glen Dye (or even Crathes), so about twenty times more challenging than Hamptworth (sorry SARUM, but...)
Real night-oers will be at Gramp event - especially those training for Tiomila or Jukola.

Would seriously have considered going if I hadn't lived this near Hamptworth and they hadn't clashed

Had it been in late Dec, Early Jan then it'd be getting dark around 14:00 anyway - so plenty of time to do the Scottish and saunter off South for a late start at the British ... but in Feb !? It won't be dark till 17:00.

Absolutely obvious which one I'll go to, but having been to Hamptworth once many moons ago I'd say its an excellent venue for the BNC. I guess if I lived mid way I'd go to BNC.

Re: British and Scottish Nights
Im mid way. The choice is technical or british night champs.. that to me is wrong. The british nights should be the toughest (technical) area possible imo.
Good orienteering is not a skill. It is an attitude.
