Planning permission has been granted to extend a quarry into Oaken Wood on the outskirts of Maidstone.
As far as I can see the last event was a Kent Night Cup event in 2007.
There is one last chance to save it. Eric Pickles needs to "rubber-stamp" the decision unless he can be persuaded otherwise.

Looking at the plans, about half to two thirds of the area will remain. Possibly enough for a local event, but don't let that stop you signing the petition.
The woods are very close to large housing estates but not that well known. They've built a housing estate just to the west (Kings Hill) but there is no footpath leaving the estate into the surrounding countryside.
To escape Kings Hill and get to Oaken Wood (less than a mile) you must drive round the roads for about 5.
