badge times

Out of interest why are there no championship badge times for the JK sprint and the BOC middle Distance champs? The BOC sprint doesn't have any badge times at all - I never looked to see if they were given for the regional champs - were they? If not it's going to be jolly hard for anyone to get a championship badge in the future - but then again - did they ever mean anything at all.

I used to think a championship badge (ie 3 championship standard runs) would have been a good selection criterion for younger juniors to get on tour or some other national coaching programme as it showed commitment and ability but it always seemed that BOF were looking for ways to cut kids out of the programme rather than get them in. Shame really

What I found interesting was that Gold, Silver and Bronze badge times were given - but I thought those didn't exist any more. (The rules on the BOF web site are ambiguous: the appendix on badge standards (which dates back to 2006) talks about all the badge standards but doesn't explain how they work when as a senior you don't have to run a specific age-class course, while the JK event rules only mention the championship badge.)
