The 60m high hurdles at the same event as the carpet-plant was almost as funny.

I can remember once doing 40m long high hurdles races indoors in a Loughborough sports hall.
Crossed the finish line in 5.8 seconds. Less than 1 second later we hit the (vertical) high jump bed placed against the far wall.
