Good article in Focus by Dave P on setting up Auchengarrich.
His usual brilliantly selective editing of quotes from competitors in evidence.
I hope the artificial lanes have been recut and that the entries to some of them are a little more clear than they were last time. They may well have been obvious on walking round the forest but in the "heat of competition" I found some difficult to find.
The piece came as a timely reminder.
Made me wonder if I want to spend £15 to run in that area again.
Can anyone give a pointer as to whether the shorter courses will be largely in the urban forest or are we going to get a chance to run in Mill of Fortune?
This might be my year for visiting Shropshire.
Mind you, the new relays area should be good.

Re: Urban Forest
The Shropshire forest is nearly all Herefordshire. I love Bringewood to bits, but from an orienteering PoV it is not worth the journey from Scotland. Ludlow will be fun, but the timing is hopeless for us.

Re: Urban Forest
I tend to agree with Taybank about Auchengarrich but it is the Scottish Champs after all. I doubt if the old Mill of Fortune area is any better than the last time we were there; it was one long flog over windthrow and felling and very disappointing, The 'urban' bit on the other side was quite good but getting to wasn't. I'm going but don't suppose I'll enjoy it.
The relay area looks cracking though.
Good luck with Springtime in Shropshire Mrs H, but as it clashes with the Scottish champs we'll never make it.

Whatever event you choose, there will be lots of big hills - especially Springtime near Shropshire. Sunny Gutter awaits!

There's also a great double-header cathedral city urban weekend in Yorkshire : Ripon on the Sunday and York on the Monday. Both events in the Yorkshire Urban League.
