WOC 2015 Bid embargoed areas

Why on earth is anyone concerned about wildlife embargoes ?
By 2015 the sport of orienteering will only involve running around town for 10 minutes.

And by 2025 orienteers will believe that the 'classics' are City of London, Venice etc etc.... 90 minute winning time? What's that?

Poor Fiona Kirk - it is hard luck that she is excluded from the WOC Lausanne Sprint event; being excluded from the whole WOC 2012 event sounds overkill (although I suppose it is so she can't tell the rest of the team aspects of the streets that can't be seen on Google Earth / Streetview ...); but excluded from the whole national team setup is even worse.

Speaking of embargoed areas, do those potential embargoed areas apply to WTOC 2015 as well? Or just WOC 2015. I'd assume that even though we are putting on WTOC 2012 at short notice that we'd be expecting to host WTOC 2015 as well.

I don't think any country has put on World Champs twice in three years. Has the WOC2015 bid given any thought to the (usually) parallel WTOC?

I know - Switzerland could do it, to repay us for WTOC 2012!

The 2015 bid is for WOC only. GBR is staging WTOC in 2012 instead.

Yep sorry - correct. If successful then the GB WOC 2015 will not have WTOC in conjunction with it.

So the good news is I can go to the Inverness 6s Shinty if I can get myself a team!

For Inverness, Forres and Elgin embargoed areas: It is allowed to stay, live, shop and work as a resident, student, worker and tourist; it is prohibited to orienteer through the city, to test route choices, and to enter into the wooded areas.
