SROC's Hutton Roof Event 13 Feb
A big thank you to SROC for the terrific event on Hutton Roof today. Great course; good mix of hard and not so hard control sites, but all fair. Weather better than expected and efficient but low key officiating.

Yes, definitely a great event, thanks. The parking was obviously a big problem, but everyone seemed to manage in the end, so thanks to the helpers who had to manage that. The weather during the race was actually quite a bit better than it could have been. By the time we were back on the M6 heading south, it was atrocious.
Disappointing to see only 10 finishers on Brown at a Level B event, but on the other hand great to see almost 30 on Black.

Results, RouteGadget etc are available on the event web page. Also the results have been uploaded to the BOF results page. Interesting that the best ranking points were gained on the Black course, with the top 3 all scoring over 1300 points, and none of the other courses coming close to that figure.

Amazing results service. Set's the standard for other clubs to aim for!
Thanks SROC for a great event, particularly in the difficult (parking) circumstances.

Really.

No disrespect to SROC - as you say, superb results service, and this is not a competition. But just wanted to point out that it's something that is being achieved by other clubs already. Of course, there will always be circumstances when that schedule is just unrealistic, whatever the reason.

No no no no we've been here before. They - SROC or who ever Awk is rambling about - set the example - not the standard. the standard is what standard people do which is post the result sometime sunday evening, which is realistic and much to be appreciated anything before that is to be admired and aspired to - but nothing to beat yourself up about. Get real people

We're at it again - setting unreasonable expectations on volunteers. The standard is that you upload the results to BOF within a week (or is it a fortnight?). Our IT man abandoned his young family for the whole day to run a fantastic results service on the day at Darnaway. I for one don't expect him to get on the computer the minute he gets home.
Let's remember that people have lives and families outside orienteering.
Anyone who wants to see our results from Darnaway can look on the Moravian web site. Your ranking points will have to wait a little longer.

I wouldn't disagree with any of that Mrs H or Sunlit Forres. I was simply commenting on Homer's implication (intended or otherwise) that this speed was one that other clubs don't achieve. When the circumstances are right, they do, and there was even one today. As you say, it's a bonus when that happens (which is what I was trying to say, but was obviously rambling too much for you).

Homer's implication (intended or otherwise)
Sorry, nothing was meant to be implied by my comment. I had to leave the event early as I had another commitment in the afternoon so I never had the chance to see any results at the event. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the results on the web by the time I got home. I certainly don't expect similar service all the time. I just thought praise was due in this instance.
