Following on from the recent resurrection of AROS as an affiliated BOF club, Edinburgh University Orienteering Club is planning on hosting its first (of many) alumni weekends to kick-start the life of post-educational Auld Reekie Orienteering Society.
All ex (and current) members of Edinburgh University are invited to come back to the famous city for this cracking weekend on the 12th/13th of March.
Current plans involve some sort of handicap inter-departmental competition during the day on saturday, followed by a social that evening.
Sunday is likely to include a long-o attempting to connect as many of the city centre maps as possible to create a beasting course, for those who are super keen - (as well as something smaller for everyone else!).
So no matter your age/orienteering ability, we urge you to flock back to Ed and help resurrect AROS whilst doing some awesome orienteering.

Re: Edinburgh University Alumni Weekend
Gross and me set up AROS in 1980 because INT and ESOC looked as boring as we probably look now to folk that are early 20s.
Eventually the SOA got scunnered as we had 4 folk- sharing a view that striving for sucess at an elite level was paramount- on the SOA committee (Big Jon, Gross, Angela, me) and occassionally did well in Relays with runners who maybe fulfilled an "honorary membership" status.
AROS was really a social club and a lot of the 70 or so folk who came to the annual winter meet in Cairngorm over the 12 years it ran were friends of members. Plus Deano and Purves and other FVO members who knew how to party but couldn't find an FVO gig which allowed them to do it "AROS Style".
It would be nice to see these folk getting an invite to the March weekend -I'd love to be there as long as my old mucker GROSS will be ther too.
