Planned Forest Sell Off
I know the Save our Forest petition has been posted elsewhere on the forum, but I see today that the Government is now planning to sell off ALL our national forest and not just some of it. More info in this article published today, http://t.co/GKmP6xu and the 38Degrees petition is found here http://bit.ly/fmBe05. Please do sign it if you haven't done so already, there is no way forest access will be cheaper if it's owned by profit making enterprises. Thanks

Of course you may support the governments approach to reducing the expenditure overload of the previous labour government.... in which case don't sign it

Unfortunately there is evidence on other threads that there is the occasional person out there foolish enough to do just that

Re: Planned Forest Sell Off
When this topic came up before It was suggested that Scottish forests would be exempt from this "English" decision.
That is in some ways true.
If you look at the Forestry C website, however, you will see that a number of areas in Scotland have already been sold and are up for sale.
Areas are put on the market for local community purchase. If they are not bought by a local group, they are then open to purchase by private interests for use as the new owners see fit - felling, hunting etc etc.
