Auto download alternative
Our small club has about 20 people at events and we have an SI training kit (plus some extra boxes). It is hard to justify buying an Autodownload licence for such small numbers. Has anyone written alternative software that would check controls and produce results that they would be willing to share?

The webmaster for the Irish Orienteering Association, Martin Flynn, has produced a program called Or, downloadable from the Irish Orienteering Association's website.

Its free, easy to use, and does many of the things that Autodownload does. Its only designed for events of about 200 or fewer, so currently it only runs on one laptop and doesn't have networking facilities. But for small events, it does all you need.
Its a great piece of software, and I've used it for a number of little events over the last year or so. It will cope with both conventional courses and Score courses at the same time, and lets you re-use SI cards more than once.
One of its nice features is that if you have a spare monitor, you can attach it to your laptop and run a separate rolling Results screen, which means competitors can immediately see how they've done, and saves you having to print out provisional results.
Although it come with an archive for Irish orienteering, the BOF archive will also work
