What does anyone else think about the quality of the areas used for the Finals?
I thought the qualification areas looked superb, but the Final area(s) was(were) disappointing; it could have been anywhere in Europe. I presume this was to make use of an excellent finish arena, but shouldn't it be more important to find the best terrain available?

Presumably more of the same for the Relay tomorrow. Go GBR, no reason why you can't medal, or at least make the grassy bit next to the podium....

Without the finish area the coverage, both online and 'in the field' would not have been anywhere near as good. With the greater demand for tracking/commentary/video this is the way things are going to have to go.

The military world champs are taking place near Kongsberg, further south in Norway.

Its surprising who is in the military, and the last section of the start list for this afternoon's middle race has some strong teams from Russia, France, Norway etc.
So can Agiv Gueorgiou get his revenge over Pte Waaler Kaas, or will Lt Novikov, Sgt Föhr or Sdt Rollier sneak in?

Are there actually any real soldiers at the military world champs?

A few years ago Alberto Tomba, '88, '92, '94 Olympic slalom medallist, raced at CISM Alpine (obviously) Champs during this period as a member of the Italian Border Guards. Don't worry, the UK Defence budget wouldn't allow our Olympic winter sportsmen and women (Biathlon, Bobsleigh and Skeleton) to do that - we aren't, and have never been, a member of CISM - can't afford to host an event in one discipline or other every year.
