Hi
My name is Jourdan Harvey and I'm an Orienteer from NZ
I'm applying for a scholarship worth up to $10000 and one of the categories is people choice.
Its done by votes and who ever gets the most votes wins.
I'd really appreciate it if you could help out a fellow orienteer and vote for me at this link:

Thanks a lot,
Jourdan

I am probably over suspicious, but this message looked to me like an ultra well designed spam message and wouldn't have clicked on the link for that reason...

Or if you were curious you could have just googled "Jourdan Harvey orienteering" and seen what came up - have you voted for him then Blanka? some people have he doubled his vote since this morning.

Thank Mrs H.
Also it can't be spam, a spammer wouldn't have put the wrong link on the original post!

Re: Help out a New Zealander
Why would a university give a scholarship to the person who got folk to click on a link the most? Don't people have to do well in exams any more? Seems particularly strange for an engineering degree, might make more sense if applying to do marketing. Feeling like an old fogy who doesn't get the modern world here.

Re: Help out a New Zealander
This is clever internet marketing, presumably by the provider of the scholarship? Rather than just handover the cash to who they see as the most worthy, the voting helps spread the word about the scholarship and the sponsor. We are even reading it from the other side of the world.

Hey Frog,
It's a financial services company giving out the scholarship, not a University Scholarship.
So yes I guess they are just going after the marketing with the People's Choice Award.

I managed to vote and totally miss who the sponsor was. I think my brain automatically zones out adverts on the internet.

if you get the cash, then don't win, do you have to pay them back?
