Don't forget Guildford urban race in July! I will be finishing off my map in the next month or two and it is ace.

I second that. There do not appear to be many down in the South East. Already broke after booking my flights for Edinburgh and St Andrews......
Do you have a date in July yet for Guildford? Did the Orientator there last October, that was fun.

More dates for your diaries
Established annual events from MDOC which seem to have been overlooked in various ways:
Manchester University Chasing Sprint ... Saturday March 20.
Same format as previous years ... prologue in Platt Fields, Chase around Fallowfield Campus.
Stockport City Centre races ... Sunday June 27.
Typical urban courses and classes on classic map.

Sloop
Just having read the WRE posts, ADVERTISING springs to mind
BTW both excellent events I've thoroughly enjoyed in the past. Pity the uni one clashes with a Nopesport league race at Huntingdon, but Stockport and Saltburn shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Urban Races in Britain 2010
Just want to say a big thank you for all those involved in organising the Edinburgh race today, even the sadistic planner (all those hills!).
Everything seemed to go smoothly and the weather was excellent.
Already looking forward to next year

I am struggling to see why the British sprints cost £12 and BUOC chasing sprint is £8. Both use 2 new maps.......

Re: Urban Races in Britain 2010
I'm loathe to rise to this since there are no doubt many other expenses to meet at both events as well as the map(s). Suffice to say that the event budget for the British Elite champs took several week of thrashing to and fro before being approved by BOF, and the forecast is to just about break even, so long as our crystal ball was accurate in its numbers of predicted entrants. Costs have been kept down by using volunteer resource as much as possible, apart from the professional map.

£4 from every entry goes into a prize fund to reward the Elite winners.
Oops, no, that's every other sport.

Just thought I would bring this back to your attention. The event is next Saturday - see the BKO web site for more details: http://www.bko.org.uk/ or go direct to our Parks Challenge 2010 page at: http://www.bko.org.uk/content/bko-parks-challenge-2010. Starts from 10.30-11.30.
Not a 'major' event but we hope that the 6.1Km 'Senior Challenge' will get the best orienteeting out of Whiteknights Park - one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK with some fast but very varied terrain. Not used for an event for about 25 years!

Thanks to those who came. Sarah Rollins shot round the 6.1Km course in 37.53, just being beaten into third place by BAOC colleagues David Rollins and John Owens. For those who missed it, the map/courses are on RouteGadget at: http://www.bko.routegadget.co.uk/bko/re ... =15&kieli= and some photos are at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dj52/sets/ ... 988786673/ and at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nh53/sets/ ... 112462492/
