Really enjoyed the Tim Watkins trophy on Farleton Knott it was very physical and certainly lived up to its title Blodslitet as there will not be many runners who did not "let blood" in the first section.
The speed of the top runners through the first section is impressive as I was down to gingerly stepping over the very greasy limestone and nearly came a cropper several times.
The other thing to note was just north of control 18 (108)on the A class there was a piece of tape stuck in a tree above a small crag(presumably identifying a control site) which I visited, this cost me no time as when I looked up I could see the control.
The funny thing is I made one mistake on the compass sport cup last year and went to the exact aforementioned tape only to find there was no control there. With a tired mind this got me thinking have they put the kite in the wrong place. This brings in to question that all identifying tapes etc should be removed when putting control sites out as I seem to be an expert in finding small pieces of tape stuck on trees rather than orienteering Kites.

It is good practice for all tape to be removed by the planner as he collects in the controls. People helping with the job should also be aware of carrying this out.
It is litter after all, and we (the sport) are certainly better than that!!
