fully aware that the vast majority of S6D officials and helpers are unpaid not the point I was making at all - I will be one of the volunteers on Day 4 for instance

until a few weeks ago I thought the organiser and planner were the same person.

I totally agree with Katy, that a course, introducing relative newcomers to organising would be a wonderful idea.

Due to my location, its often an hour or more drive to events and I don't finish work till 9am, so after collecting the 5 children, driving there, and trying to fit in everyones runs, often leaves me unavailable to help!! I do help at events local to my home.

The biggest problem the club appears to have is not lack of people who do the organising, planning or controlling - it seems to lack people to help on the day. My 5 year old and I often step in to fill gaps whilst waiting to start. It also appears to me that the same people do a lot of the jobs - and they are not exactly young

When I get to organise an event ( which I am sure I will want to one day) I hope to shadow an experienced person to start with - after all they (hopefully) know what they are doing
