Becks
This orienteer (Freefall) was very pleased to find himself 20 mins ahead of the other orienteers on the Sunday - we were passing in opposite directions. We didn't do so well on Sat night, with our girl struggling a bit (she dropped out on Sun with ITBS). Geoff and I managed all the challenges on Sun, including a bracing swim across a reservoir in the Pentlands. We were team "Not Much Chance" - not sure what the other two orienteering teams were called. Final results still need sorted as there is still a time penalty to be removed from provisional results. It was the toughest Rat Race I have done yet (I came 6th in Bristol with Rory and other son Lewis Matheson and Edinburgh was much harder).

Re: Rat Race Edinburgh
Look at the top of the results and you will find Team Prudential Forth Valley & Team Nopesport HBT.
As I produced the results I'm not sure what you mean, have you submitted a claim?
As far as I am aware the results on the web are the final version unless there are any valid objections.

And the first two mixed teams (separated by 0.7 of a point!) also each had at least one orienteer each - Clive Parry for Helly Hansen NUUN and Marcus Pinker for Average Joe In A Buff (sorry guys don't know who your teammates were).
Why did I do that...

Re: Rat Race Edinburgh
Can anyone explain the scoring system? Was it explained to competitors before the race started?

Page 2 of the Competitors Route Book:
The PDF download of the Weekender results from the Rat Race website shows the calculations, with columns for each part of the formula.
The fastest team took 5:41:22 and the "Directors' Time" was set at 5:30:00
For Weekender teams the optimal route through all Nine2Five CPs has been given a "Directors' Time", which will be unassailably fast. Final rankings wiil be determined by the sum of Mean Streets and Nine2Five scores, minus 1 point for every minute you finish after the "Directors' Time" for the Nine2Five.

Paul
When we got to the abseil (before the 4.30 cut off) we had to wait 45 minutes till the queue cleared. Gary went up and down the queue telling us we would not be penalised time wise (which we were from my interpretation of results). Nevertheless it was great fun!
