I'm surprised there are no other Guardian readers on the list who spotted the article "Be the best at ... orienteering" in last Saturday's Weekend Guardian. See:

Unfortunately the online version doesn't have the photo that accompanied the printed copy.

Re: Orienteering in the Guardian
Not in the Guardian this week. A list of 20 free ideas to do over Christmas is given, one is Orienteering. Apparently you can download a free map from many clubs websites and off you go. Maybe maps can be downloaded from some clubs but they won't be very good unless they have permanent posts on them. Good to see we got a mention anyway.
If you do want a "free" run over the holiday period, come along to the MDOC Charity event on 3rd Jan in Lyme Park near Manchester. It is free but most people make a donation to the nominated charity. Always good fun, mass start and short medium long courses for all ages. Also a raffle with loads of prizes.

Call me an old cynic, but doesn't the average journalists* world cover the 5 square miles around Islington? To the north is an unvisited world called the north, and to the south there is Brighton.
You can download a map of the permanent courses at Hampstead Heath and Trent Park from the LOK website.
